October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
According to Olivia Newton-John, “Early detection is key,” she said. “And if I hadn’t found my lump early, I don’t know what would have been. I am still here and I want to encourage women to do that on a regular basis.”
October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year the organization is celebrating 25 years of awareness, education and empowerment. According to the American Cancer Society, today there are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States. Yet it is still the second leading cause of death for women behind lung cancer.
