Let’s face it being a maid of honor is a huge responsibility. Your job is to single- handily handle any issues that come up. Deflect the crazy soon to be mother-in-law. It’s on you. Hold up the bride’s dress so she can pee. That’s your job. Make a wedding speech that will insight both tears and laughter. That’s on you too! So before you totally freak out, take a deep breath. - Keep calm and carry on — you’ll need to be the eye of the storm on the big day regardless of what goes down you are the one person who needs to keep a clear head.
- Be prepared — make sure you have a phone list of all the wedding vendors, brides maids and groomsmen. If someone is late or doesn’t show give ‘em a call.
- Come prepared– prepare a Wedding Day Survival Kit because you’ll never know what you’ll need. The kit should include: water, aspirin, hair spray, extra panty hose, clear nail polish, safety pins, Tums, breath mints, tampons, Kleenex and lip gloss (seriously can you ever have enough?).
- Remember it’s all about the bride — be sure to remind anyone who forgets it too. It’s her special day. Every girl deserves to be the center of attention on her day.
- Thanks for the memories– Throughout the wedding festivities (bridal shower, bachelorette party, day of the wedding) take pictures and present the bride with a photo album after the wedding. Trust me some presents are truly priceless.

Recently I came across some beautiful pictures of bridesmaid’s dresses in my favorite color…GREEN! The photos were gorgeous and it made me think how few people utilize green (other than for stems and leaves in the floral arrangements…) in their wedding. Yes, the light sea foam green is seen occasionally, but I mean a bright vibrant emerald green.

Choosing Your Bridesmaids
It’s finally here. It’s time to plan your wedding. You’ve been dreaming about this day for a long time. You may have even had your dress picked out for years. Have you had some close friends in mind for bridesmaids? Do you have a maid of honor already?
Some women have a group of friends that equals the perfect number of attendants for their wedding. Others don’t.
Sometimes your wedding dreams change with the financial circumstances or your husband-to-be wants a smaller wedding.
Whatever the reason, sometimes it’s necessary to either add to or trim your list of bridesmaid candidates. Here’s how to choose your bridesmaids:
Numbers matter. More bridesmaids do not mean a happier wedding, necessarily. If you are on a tight budget, fewer attendants can help you save money. Remember, you have to buy bouquets, gifts and favors. That gets expensive. Also, it’s not really a good idea to have more bridesmaids than guests if you are having a small wedding. Base your “how many” decision on budget and wedding size.
Family matters, too. Sometimes it’s just easier to include your sister or your husband’s sister. This helps you avoid conflicts. Don’t let this put a damper on your wedding plans. Include family if it will make you happy and help any sticky situations. You’ll save yourself stress later.
Don’t make assumptions. It’s important to be considerate, but just because you want expensive bridesmaid dresses is not a reason to not ask a money-strapped friend. It’s better to ask and let her decline than to never ask at all. If she does bow out, give her another job at the wedding.
