I think your birdcage idea is brilliant. It is elegant and tasteful. Also as you yourselfs suggested it keeps the cards together until they can be read. I also like the idea that you can add your own special touch for each couple. I am bias as I love birds and you could put a dove on the outside for the symbol of peace and happiness. I would have loved to have had a chance of something beautiful like that at my own wedding. Congratulations on your choice and style.
