The Wedding Send Off: Go Out with a Bang

You have said your "I do's," the band has played, and the your mother has cried. Now it's time to leave; but wait! It's not over yet. It's time for the send off, where you and your handsome groom leave the church and are showered with varied items such as birdseed, wedding bubbles, and rose petals. Take heed to these tips for planning the perfect wedding send off.

Let Wedding Sparklers Brighten Up Your Day

Everyone ooohs and ahhhhs when the fireworks come out on the Fourth of July. The sparkling fire brings a childlike excitement out of people that can't be duplicated.

Bring that excitement to your wedding send off with wedding sparklers, given as party favors. Leave instructions on the wedding sparklers informing your guests that they should light them as soon as they line up outside to await the exit of the bride and groom.

Also put a note somewhere to let them know not to put their lit wedding sparklers too close to Aunt Myra's hairdo. As a matter of fact, you might want to keep Aunt Myra far away from your careless brother-in-law for this.

Planning the perfect wedding send off requires some foresight and the ability to conceptualize the way your wedding ideas will come off in real life. If you do test runs of your props you won't be disappointed. For example, you need to know how long the wedding sparklers will burn so that if your exit takes too long you won't come out to a bunch of people holding black tipped sticks.

Rose Petals and Rose Petal Cones
Your flower girl isn't the only member of your wedding party that could be throwing rose petals.

Make little baskets for everyone in your wedding party full of freeze dried rose petals for them to throw during your send off. You can place the baskets at the tables in your reception hall, or have them handed out as guests file out. Another option is to fill a huge bowl with rose petals and allow the guests to fill their own baskets.

You can also place rose petal cones in the baskets instead and fill them with the rose petals you want guests to throw at your wedding send off. Rose petal cones are not the only option—you can also put seeds or other environmentally safe items in the cones to be tossed. The paper cones can contain a message of good tiding for the bride and groom, so it is as if you are throwing them blessings.

When you are planning the perfect wedding send off, you want to make sure that every guest has their hands on the favors and props needed to make it a memorable moment.
